Dear Sir/Madame,
The death of 14 women at the hands of a madman was a tragedy. To continue to use their memory to rationalize bad public policy is reprehensible. To mistake the underlying mental health issues for misogyny and thus rationalize the institutional misandry which defines the women’s movement is to lose focus upon the real lessons we might have learned. I fear that the Gazette is complicit in a revisionism which has stymied any improvements to the public safety, and has only contributed to the public tooth-gnashing which defines a useless cult of professional victim-hood.
This is the latest incarnation of the GunPositive.org web site, and also the PowerfulGunLobby dot com and dot org web sites. This site is dedicated to the responsible ownership and use of firearms in a former liberal democracy (Canada) where the lawful use of firearms has been under fire since the passage of the Canadian Firearms Act of 1995 (CFA).
One of our primary goals is to lobby for the repeal of the CFA, and to return Canada to the previous regime for law abiding firearms regulation the Firearms Certificate (FAC) regime, which was Constitutional, effective, affordable, fair to law abiding owners, and had the consent of the governed, unlike the draconian and wrong headed CFA implemented by the Liberal government of Jean Chretien.
